GAZOO Racing Unveils the 2026 GRMN Corolla
Alongside these mass-market commercial successes, Toyota’s performance division, GAZOO Racing (GR), is showcasing its technical know-how by pulling back the curtain on the 2026 GRMN Corolla. Intensively developed on the Nürburgring circuit under the direct supervision of master driver Akio Toyoda (Morizo), this ultra-radical hatchback is purpose-built for the track. Primarily destined for North America, Japan, and Australia, it will be assembled as a limited edition at the Motomachi plant.
Directly inspired by Toyota’s commitment to endurance racing (the Super Taikyu series), the GRMN Corolla pushes engineering to the absolute limit. By eliminating the rear seats, the team reduced the vehicle’s weight by 30 kg compared to the base model. Its internal combustion engine sees its torque climb to 302 lb-ft (optimized between 4,000 and 4,600 rpm), supported by an intercooler spray system. Chassis rigidity was maximized through the application of over 32 meters of structural adhesive—an innovation that already benefits the production-series GR Corolla. Equipped with an exclusive suspension featuring monotube shock absorbers, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, and an adjustable carbon-fiber rear wing, this track beast promises a visceral connection with the driver. Pricing and final specifications will be revealed at a later date.
