The upper level of the South Hall at the Las Vegas Convention Center is always a hub of activity during the SEMA Show, with tons of innovative products and solutions for the collision repair industry. At the Mirka display during the 2024 event, we caught up with Michel Lapensee, District Sales Manager for Mirka in Canada. He showed us the Iridium SR Polisher and DEROS electric sander, providing us an on-site demonstration of these versatile tools. “Mirka’s electric sanders, like the DEROS provide a lot of benefits,” Lapensee explained. “Because you’re not using compressors you can plug it in, anywhere in the shop,” he said, plus these light, random orbital sanders include smart features such as integrated vibration sensor technology and Bluetooth connectivity.

Lapensee also showed us the extractor that comes with the DEROS sander. This incorporates a dust bag with 30-litre capacity, helping to minimize dust and improve air quality and health within the shop environment. Mirka also provides a range of portal dust extractors and related equipment, for both electric and pneumatic sanders, including hoses, connectors and filters.
