Michelin North America has announced the launch of its two new pre-mold retreads to expand its tire retread technologies portfolio.

To cater to the expanding market of applications that require traction and durability in pickup and delivery, food and beverage, and applications involving less-than-truckloads for regional and urban delivery, the tire manufacturer is launching the MICHELIN X Multi D Pre-Mold retread. The tire complements the X Multi D tire released earlier and will be available in March.

Additionally, the MICHELIN X Line Energy T Pre-Mold retread has been launched is currently available for applications in dry-van truckload, tanker and super-regional categories. This retread is designed as a fuel-efficient option with better wear life for line-haul trailer operations.

Michelin states in a release that its MICHELIN X Multi D Pre-Mold retread as well as the MICHELIN X Multi D tire feature the same tread-regeneration technology. The tire is designed to deliver good scrub resistance and traction. The tire manufacturer notes its mileage performance has not been compromised. Michelin is currently offering the MICHELIN X Multi Energy D retread in 220, 230 and 240 tread widths with deep 28/32-inch tread depth. By the middle of this year, the 250 and 260 tread widths will also be released.

“With the increase in on-time, same-day or next-day deliveries, customers are looking for retreads that can stand up to regional and last-mile delivery use,” says Adam Murphy, Vice President of B2B Marketing for Michelin. “The new X Multi D pre-mold retread complements our tire offering in meeting those needs while offering durability, quality and uptime in this ever-increasing and demanding segment.”

Featuring “breakthrough” new-tire technology in a retread, the MICHELIN X Line Energy T Pre-Mold retread conforms to SmartWay standards and requirements. Its advanced compound tread enhances the fuel economy of this trailer-position retread, resulting in a reduction in the overall cost of ownership. For even wear, the tire is equipped with new siping technology and decoupling grooves. Michelin is offering the retread in 200, 210, 220, 230, 240 and 250 tread widths. All options have 11/32-inch tread depth.
