The Tire Industry Association (TIA), a key player in tire safety, has announced its schedule for the 2019 Automotive Tire Services (ATS) Advanced Instructor Training Tour.

Cities across the United States will host the four-day, hands-on training classes. The primary goal of the tour is to train tire technicians on the appropriate safety procedures and guidelines for servicing passenger and light truck tire and wheel assemblies.

TIA plans to visit seven locations across the U.S. for its annual training tour. The initial tour schedule is as follows:

  • February 5 to 8—Charlotte, N.C.
  • March 26 to 29—Louisville, Ky.
  • May 21 to 24—Mission Viejo, Calif.
  • July (TBD)—Dallas, Texas
  • August 13 to 16—Denver, Colo.
  • September 10 to 13—Seattle, Wash.
  • November 12 to 15—Baltimore, Md.

The training classes will mostly be held at local technical and community colleges in these cities.

Certified ATS is a 300 and 400-level certification course that educates professional tire technicians about the appropriate procedures for servicing modern automobiles and light trucks. The program comprises 15 modules. The subjects range from step-by-step wheel installation to tire conditions analysis highlighting signs of common problems.
