Auto-care chain Valvoline marks a dual milestone: 40 years in retail and 10 years on the stock market.
Marking 40 years in automotive retail and 10 years as a public company, Valvoline expands its North American service network toward 3,500 locations.
Preventive maintenance provider Valvoline Inc. is marking a dual corporate milestone, celebrating 40 years in retail automotive services and 10 years as a publicly traded company. Since entering the retail landscape in 1986 with the acquisition of 42 regional quick-lube locations, the enterprise has expanded its footprint to operate more than 2,500 service centers across Canada and the United States.
Led by President and CEO Lori Flees, the company is targeting long-term network growth to exceed 3,500 systemwide locations. For North American automotive aftermarket operators, Valvoline’s expansion illustrates steady retail demand driven by increasing vehicle complexity, longer average vehicle ownership cycles, and consumer preference for rapid, appointment-free preventive care.
The service model prioritizes workforce development across its 13,500 employees, with approximately 95% of service center managers originating from entry-level technician positions. As quick-lube chains scale their physical footprint across North America, independent repair facilities and franchised dealership service bays face intensified competition for routine maintenance revenue and customer retention.
