New Brunswick Launches Fully Funded EV Microcredential Cohort

Addressing the regional shortage of high-voltage service expertise across the Atlantic provinces, New Brunswick has announced the launch of its upcoming September 2026 cohort for the Electric Vehicle Microcredential Training program.

Targeted at automotive service technicians and apprentices who have completed Block 3 training or higher, the 12-week (90-hour total) certification is fully funded for accepted candidates. Engineered around full-time shop schedules, the curriculum combines online evening lecture modules with hands-on shop training hosted bi-weekly on Saturdays across three regional hubs: Fredericton, Moncton, and Saint John.

High-Voltage Competency for Service Centers and Fleets

Building in-house high-voltage service capacity is becoming critical for operational viability. Upon completion, certified graduates will hold formal qualifications to inspect, isolate, diagnose, and service high-voltage battery systems, electric powertrains, and hybrid drivelines in compliance with occupational safety standards.

“Given the high demand for high-voltage diagnostics and EV service skills, this cohort is designed to upskill our automotive service technicians across New Brunswick without interfering with their full-time working hours,” stated Madeleine Nickerson, RSE Automotive Service Technician and Instructor. 

Registration is now open to qualified applicants, with limited candidate seating available for the September intake.
