Recently Shad’s R&R Board of Directors was invited to attend the Dr. David Green Awards Banquet by Stacy Lintern, CEO, Muscular Dystrophy Canada. Ms. Lintern also sent Shad’s a lovely letter for their contribution to Muscular Dystrophy Canada and we would like to share it with our readers.

Dear Shads R&R Board members (our dear Friends!):

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks for attending the Dr. David Green Awards Banquet. It was truly an honour to recognize and celebrate you and the extraordinary impact you continue to have within the neuromuscular community.

Your leadership, dedication, and unwavering commitment to breaking down barriers inspire all of us at Muscular Dystrophy Canada. You embody the spirit of this award, and we are so grateful for everything you do to create a better future for Canadians affected by neuromuscular disorders.

Thank you again for your remarkable contributions and for sharing the evening with us.

Kind regards,

Stacey Lintern, CEO Muscular Dystrophy Canada

We also reached out to Ms. LIntern to ask what the Dr. David Green Award encompassed and found that Dr. Green was a co-founder of Muscular Dystrophy Canada. Ms. Lintern went on to tell us that annually, Muscular Dystrophy Canada honours extraordinary people, volunteers, Fire Fighters, fundraisers, donors, researchers, and health care professionals who make their mission possible through the Dr. David Green Awards. Individuals are nominated and then selected through a selection committee.

Ms. Lintern remarked that “The Fred Shaddick Community Spirit Award recognizes a business, group, or community organization that has partnered with Muscular Dystrophy Canada in planning or organizing a third-party or “do it yourself” fundraising event. We are thrilled to announce that this year’s Fred Shaddick Community Spirit Award goes to the Shad’s R&R Board of Directors.

“This year, the Shad’s R&R golf tournament celebrated its 50th anniversary, an extraordinary milestone for an organization that has shown five decades of dedication to Muscular Dystrophy Canada and the neuromuscular community. Founded by Fred Shaddick and a group of his golfing friends, and continuing Fred’s legacy, Brad Shaddick and the Shad’s R&R Board have raised over $6 million for neuromuscular research!

“The Shad’s R&R Board generously gives their time, compassion, and dedication year after year.  Their unwavering commitment has enabled Muscular Dystrophy Canada to invest in the best neuromuscular research that has transformed the field, and we are seeing the amazing outcomes today with life-changing treatments and improved standards of care.”
