In chatting with Brad Shaddick, Chair of Shad’s R&R, this year will be an incredible anniversary for Shad’s R&R for the Kids on June 12!
“You know, we’re trying to ensure we get over that $6-million mark in cumulative donations since inception, which will be quite the milestone! And you know, we have no doubt it should be a sell-out this year, for sure. We were pretty close last year. We can accommodate 288 golfers so register early! I have no doubt we’ll do that! We’ve got some new companies that have committed as majors for 2025.
“The word got out that we were looking for some additional support—a one-time additional lift to give us a boost for 2025 to ensure we hit the six-million $ mark.
“We’ve had organizations and companies that have already offered “up and above” support. One was the Automotive Fellowship Society, which Greg Stone was Chair of for many, many years. The AFS ended its long run during COVID. A group of automotive veterans wanted to try to get it going again in a different manner. As a result, the Automotive Aftermarket Guild was created in 2024. Greg Stone very generously donated the remaining balance of the AFS to Shad’s R&R for 2025 which is greatly appreciated by the Shad’s Board of Directors.”
Extra support
“Then, some weeks ago I got a call from Reid Ferguson at Modern Sales Cooperative offering “some extra support” for Shad’s R&R for the 50th anniversary. Reid and Modern have always been there as a major sponsor, along with golfer gift support but this extra boost for 2025 to help us hit our 50th anniversary goal is very much appreciated.
“In my recent Shad’s R&R Christmas and holiday message to the sponsors and participants, I indicated that any company or organization that wishes to support the Shad’s effort with an extra boost for 2025, can reach out to myself or any of the Shad’s board members. These individuals or companies can be anonymous about it if they want to, but I think most will probably want to be recognized for their generosity. I intend to showcase these companies that have given the extra support to help us hit our goal on June 12th”.
“You all know now that the Shad’s message is out there. The Shad’s board members are out attending all the industry events that are going on throughout 2025—so they will be talking things up and spreading the word… please plan to help out if you can.”
Reaching the goal
Brad continued, “Based on the board meeting we had at Grant Brothers Sales in November, we were doing some math and determined it is not insurmountable for us to reach our goal. I think if we get a few more companies to donate like we just did, we will make it! It’s important… it’s for the kids, kids with Muscular Dystrophy.
“So, we’re really drumming up the event—and hope everyone hears us! The November Shad’s meeting was really a brainstorming session. The discussion was very positive. The board is working on looking at all aspects of the 50th Shad’s R&R, and to make sure that it is an extra special, over-the-top event for all attendees!
“Stacey Lintern as CEO Muscular Dystrophy Canada, is very excited about the 50th event. And to celebrate that milestone, we’ll have a great keynote speaker again—we’ll have World Record Holder Paralympian Danielle Campo speak—this will be the third time she’s spoken to us and she’s dynamic! So, things are coming together already. We will have our first board meeting of 2025 the last week of January and nailing down some things that we need in place. We expect the registration forms to go out in an email blast no later than the second week of February. At that point we’ll just start collecting the registration forms and build towards that sell out!
“We’re going to send out the first email blast to all of the major sponsors, double majors and triple majors. It will go out to them first to advise Shad’s 2025 will be a sell out and to register early. Then we’ll send out the secondary email blast to others.”
And you will be in for another treat at Shad’s… Brad will pay tribute to his Dad Fred, the founder, showing a few slides, and how Shad’s got started way back in 1973. Please register early to ensure your participation and support for this very special industry event… believe me, it is certainly worth all the effort that goes into it… plus, you will be helping a great cause… Muscular Dystrophy, and the kids that need your help.
Remember the date—June 12th, 2025—Shad’s R&R for the Kids. Be there! You can be a part of this 50th anniversary event and doing a great thing in supporting Shad’s and their quest to achieve the six-million dollar milestone. Please help them out.
