The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) is hosting a free webinar for service technicians on Tuesday, March 26 at 4:00 p.m. ET entitled “HVAC Best Practices.”

System refrigerant and oil charges have both been halved in the past 20 years or so. This has required a doubling of system efficiency. However, this dramatic improvement in efficiency has required major design changes to system components. As a result, repairing modern HVAC systems successfully is a much more exacting science today than it used to be.

The latest tips

During this session, Peter McArdle with Standard Motor Products will share the latest tips for successful, comeback-free air conditioning repairs. He will explain how to perform “diagnostic triage” before attempting system repairs to improve repair success and customer satisfaction.

Other topics covered in the webinar include new, innovative leak-checking methods such as forming-gas leak detection and how to confirm that the system does not have a leak before recharging. McArdle will also share methods on how to test thermal expansion valves. Finally, he will demonstrate how inadequate condenser airflow is the silent killer of compressors and often goes undiagnosed as well as other tips.

Participants in this webinar will receive a certificate of attendance for the live session. Please allow one week for automatic email delivery of the certificate.

After registering, a confirmation email will be sent containing information about joining the webinar. Those who are not sure if they can attend are encouraged to register as they will receive a follow-up email with details on how to attend a recorded session, if available. Access to recorded sessions is reserved for those who register for the live event.
