Cash Back for Home Charging

Monetizing Clean Fuel Regulations compliance credits, Variablegrid and Kia Canada introduce direct cash-back incentives for residential EV owners.

Canadian energy tech firm Variablegrid Adaptive Power has launched Variablegrid Plus, a revenue-generating program for residential EV owners offering a $0.10 per kilowatt-hour cash-back incentive on eligible home charging sessions. Kia Canada, an existing partner since 2025, becomes the exclusive inaugural automaker to offer the program through its dealer network, enabling a Kia EV5 driver traveling 20,000 km annually to earn approximately $392 per year in recurring credits.

For EV sales specialists, dealership finance teams, and electrical installation partners, the program provides a compelling selling proposition that reduces total cost of ownership while eliminating expensive residential panel upgrades through adaptive load management.

According to Kia Canada and Variablegrid executive leadership, the system measures home charging data, converts kilowatt-hours into Clean Fuel Regulations (CFR) compliance credits, and automatically manages charging based on household electrical capacity and time-of-use utility rates.
