Volkswagen Enhances IQ.DRIVE Suite Across 2027 Model Lineup

Advancing mass-market active safety systems, Volkswagen introduces automated lane changing, shoulder pulls, and rear pedestrian detection across its 2027 North American vehicle lineup.

Volkswagen of America has introduced updates to its standard IQ.DRIVE Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite for its 2027 model year lineup, spanning MQB Evo and MEB platform vehicles including the Atlas, Golf, ID. Buzz, and Tiguan. Upgrades include driver-initiated lane changing via Travel Assist above 45 mph, an updated Predictive Adaptive Cruise Control (pACC), and pedestrian-detecting rearview camera braking systems.

For dealership service departments, collision repair centers, and ADAS calibration technicians, the expansion of multi-sensor safety features underscores the necessity of precise post-repair sensor realignment.

A major safety development is Emergency Assist Plus. If an unresponsive driver is detected, the system executes visual, audible, and tactile warnings (including seatbelt pre-tensioning and brake jolts) before autonomously guiding the vehicle to the right-hand shoulder or rightmost lane, shifting to Park, unlocking doors, turning on interior lights, and placing an automated emergency call.

Additionally, the 2027 ID. Buzz incorporates cloud-based Road Experience Management (REM) swarm data, allowing lane-centering functionality on roads lacking clear lane markings.
