Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) August sales were up 14.4% YOY with 21,848 units sold, helped by strong demand for its electrified vehicles, representing 49.1% of all units sold.

Camry Hybrid (up 148.4% YOY), Corolla Hybrid (up 80.0% YOY), Prius Plug-In Hybrid (up 38.0% YOY), Tacoma Hybrid (up 44.9% YOY) and Sienna (up7.4% YOY) are amongst the electrified nameplates seeing record August sales.

Toyota Division had strong overall sales with 19,346 units sold, up 16.0%, with electrified sales representing 48.0% of all Toyota units sold.

For Toyota Division, strong demand in the sedan segment led the way once again for electrified sales. The Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid set an all-time record for the second month in a row, with 1,133 units, up 38.0% YOY, followed by another all-time record for the Toyota Camry Hybrid with 1,073 units sold, up 148.4%. The Toyota Corolla Hybrid set an August record with 1,267 units sold, up 80.0%.

The Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada-made RAV4 reached sales of 6,351 units, up 16.0% YOY.

Lexus Division August sales were up 3.4% YOY, with 2,502 units sold, with electrified sales representing 57.6% of overall Lexus sales.

The Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada-made Lexus RX demonstrated strong demand with total RX sales of 961 units, up 11.2% YOY. The Lexus RX Plug-In Hybrid also had its best August record, up 38.8% YOY.

Numerous electrified nameplates saw strong demand during August, including:

• Toyota Prius PHEV (best month sales ever, up 38.0%)
• Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid (up 23.0%)
• Toyota Camry Hybrid (best month sales ever, up 148.4%)
• Toyota Corolla Hybrid (best August, up 80.0%)
• Tacoma Hybrid (best August, up 44.9%)
• Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid (best August)
• Toyota Highlander Hybrid (best August, up 6.0%)
• Sienna Hybrid (best August, up 7.4%)
• Lexus RX Hybrid (up 11.2%)
• Lexus RX PHEV (best August, up 38.8%)
• Lexus TX Hybrid (best August)
