Ford officially debuted the most powerful and off-road capable Explorer ever made: the first-ever Explorer Tremor!

With the introduction of the Explorer Tremor, Ford continues its expansion of the popular off-road sub-brand line of trucks and SUVs. Tremor reasserts Explorer’s leadership in the large utility space with a true blend of ruggedness and refinement, that delivers authentic off-road performance without compromising on comfort, technology, or versatility.

“Our goal was to create an Explorer that could confidently tackle challenging terrain while maintaining the comfort and on-road manners that our customers expect,” said Brian Naspinsky, Explorer Vehicle Engineering Manager. “We focused on enhancing the vehicle’s core capabilities, from its suspension and drivetrain to its underbody protection and technology.

Key features of the 2026 Explorer Tremor include:

Rugged Off-Road Hardware: Explorer Tremor delivers authentic off-road capability. It sports:

  • a 1-inch increased ride height along with improved approach and departure angles.
  • 18″ wheels with all-terrain tires and a Torsen limited slip differential for improved traction in slippery trail conditions.
  • Two front and rear skid plates for underbody protection.
  • High-intensity LED off-road lights and easily accessible recovery hooks further enhance its rugged aesthetic along with Tremor’s signature electric spice painted accents.

Adventure-Ready Powertrain and Suspension: Explorer Tremor is engineered for the road less-travelled. It comes standard with a 300 horsepower 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine and can be upgraded with an available 400 horsepower 3.0-litre EcoBoost engine; the same engine on the Explorer ST. For optimized driving in both on- and off-road conditions, Explorer Tremor also includes an off-road tuned suspension featuring unique springs and sway bars.

Cutting-Edge Technology: BlueCruise is available on the 2026 Explorer Tremor and will feature BlueCruise 1.5, the latest version of the hands-free highway driving technology, which includes Automatic Lane Change where the system can seamlessly perform a lane change for drivers.

Explorer Tremor will also feature the Ford Digital Experience2, which can be fully optimized with the new Ford Connectivity Package, giving customers the ability to seamlessly use WiFi hot spot, Google Assistant, embedded Google Maps and their favourite apps from Google Play.  Explorer Tremor will also come standard with Copilot 360 Assist 2.0, including a 360-degree camera for added visibility on the road or on the trails. Available features like massaging front seats and a 14-speaker B&O audio system ensure that comfort and convenience are not sacrificed in the pursuit of off-road adventure.

The 2026 Explorer Tremor joins a diverse and capable Explorer lineup, which includes the versatile and affordable Active, the sporty ST-Line, the high-performance ST, and the luxurious Platinum. With the addition of the Tremor, the Explorer family now offers a compelling option for every type of customer, from those seeking everyday practicality to those craving off-road excitement.

Prioritizing experiences

“Today, people are prioritizing experiences, especially those that involve spending time outdoors.” said Matthew Duffield, Explorer Brand Manager. “We know many Explorer customers have a passion for adventure and spend their time mountain biking, hiking, riding ATVs & towing. Our goal was to deliver a vehicle that best matched their lifestyle. The first-ever Explorer Tremor is all that and more.”

Ordering for the first-ever Ford Explorer Tremor opened June 24. The Explorer Tremor will begin to arrive in dealer showrooms in late 2025. More information is available on Ford.ca.
