Anticipating future OEM coatings formulations allows Canadian collision repairers to prepare for advanced mica pigments and evolving two-coat colour matching procedures.
Automotive coatings developer Surventis, launching its first independent design forecast, has unveiled its NEXISTENTIAL Automotive Color Trends collection. The portfolio introduces three core regional colours engineered to guide global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) during upcoming vehicle platform development cycles, with production rollout expected over the coming years.
For Canadian collision centre operators, refinish technicians, and paint distributors, changes in automotive exterior finishes directly dictate future paint booth throughput and colour-matching accuracy. For the Americas market, Surventis highlighted CHROMOTOPIC METAL, a hybrid white-silver finish utilizing an advanced mica technology specifically designed for streamlined two-coat spray applications. In overseas markets, the European MOTILE RED formulation incorporates non-fossil content and pigments sourced from recycled industrial waste streams.
According to Surventis design leadership, these new formulations rely on engineered effect pigments that change visual depth according to ambient lighting and viewing angles. As vehicle assembly plants begin adopting these novel paint chemistries, body shops must prepare their digital spectrophotometer databases and mixing benches to blend specialized mica layers accurately without driving up material waste or booth cycle times.
