AutomotiveTouchup suggests a three-step system to repair bumper scrapes using the company’s primer, basecoat and clear coat.

The company suggests using the correct container depending on the size of the scrape. For very small scrapes like rock chips or areas smaller than a pencil eraser, a paint pen is most suitable. For dime-sized areas, bottles with a built-in brush can be used. For scrapes covering up to six square feet, 12-ounce aerosol spray cans are ideal. AutomotiveTouchup notes that the pro-grade tip on its aerosol spray cans aids the user get a spray gun-quality application by producing a gentle, wide, finely-atomized fan pattern.

The company also offers ready-to-spray pints, quarts and gallons that can be attached to spray guns for working on projects that involve repainting the complete vehicle or doing restoration work. Companion primers and high-gloss clear coats are available to take the process from the bare metal stage to applying the final layer of protective coat.

The user can identify the colour code of their vehicle by typing in the vehicle’s year, make and model on the company’s website. Based on this paint code, AutomotiveTouchup customizes the formulation for each of its orders using its library of colours.

The products and all other necessary supplies required for the repair work can be ordered online. The company offers supplies such as sandpaper, auto grade masking tape, tack cloths, surface wipes, prep solvent, scuff pads, sanding blocks, applicator tools, rubbing compound, nitrile gloves and spray guns on its website, among other things.

The company’s website also contains video guides on the paint repair process. Additional technical support is available from the company’s staff as well.

“With the industry’s most comprehensive palette of OEM colours, reaching all the way back to the 1930s, AutomotiveTouchup provides perfect matched base coat colour for virtually every year, make and model vehicle.  We also have colour matches for any vehicle brand that has been discontinued,” explained Jeremy Thurnau, President, AutomotiveTouchup.  “In addition, if a special custom paint match is needed, we can also colour match if a swatch or sample is submitted to our headquarters.”
