July 10th marked PPG’s 135th anniversary, which they celebrated by ringing the bell to close out daily trading activities at the New York Stock Exchange.
PPG CEO and Chairman of the Board, Michael H. McGarry, had the honours of ringing the symbolic NYSE bell. “Ringing the NYSE closing bell puts an exclamation point on our 135th anniversary. This is a milestone that few manufacturing companies reach,” said McGarry.
“We’ve led technological change and have become a global leader, he added, through the strength of our products, manufacturing capabilities, sustainability, innovation, community engagement, and a dedicated, world-class workforce.”
Founded in 1883 as Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company, originally a major producer of plate glass, PPG first entered the stock market back in 1945.
