Automakers are integrating gasoline direct injection (GDI), turbocharging, variable valve timing (VVT), and cylinder deactivation to meet efficiency standards.
Standard Motor Products, Inc. (SMP) has expanded its product portfolio across several advanced internal combustion engine (ICE) categories under the Standard brand.
As automakers integrate gasoline direct injection (GDI), turbocharging, variable valve timing (VVT), and cylinder deactivation to meet efficiency standards, the resulting component complexity creates expanding replacement opportunities across North American repair bays.
Product Line Expansion Highlights:
-
Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI): The GDI program features over 120 high-pressure fuel pump SKUs, adding coverage for late-model applications including BMW X3 (2020-2024), BMW X5 (2019-2023), Audi A4 (2017-2020), and Volkswagen Atlas (2018-2023).
-
Turbocharger Program: Anchored by over 100 all-new, no-core turbocharger kits, recent additions include complete kits for 2.0L Subaru (2015-2021) and 6.7L Ford Diesel (2011-2014) engines, plus coolant lines for Ford F-150 (2021-2026) and Ford Transit (2015-2026).
-
Electric Vacuum Pumps: Expands coverage for turbocharged and stop-start vehicles with specialized vacuum pumps, including applications for over 3.2 million Jeep/RAM vehicles through 2025 and 2.5 million Ford trucks through 2026.
“These introductions of higher technology components demonstrate our capabilities and our commitment to providing our distribution partners with late-model coverage in the right categories,” stated John Herc, Vice President of Vehicle Control Marketing at SMP.
For Canadian automotive jobbers, commercial fleet repair facilities, and technicians, the expansion offers direct access to late-model engine management and fuel delivery replacement components.
