Paul McCarthy, President and CEO of MEMA, the Vehicle Suppliers Association, will personally represent the family’s commitments on the UAF Board of Trustees, a strategic appointment that links major North American component supplier insights with grassroots educational funding.
Addressing the critical talent pipeline within the automotive service sector, the University of the Aftermarket Foundation (UAF) has welcomed the McCarthy family as its newest Lifetime Trustee.
Paul McCarthy, President and CEO of MEMA, the Vehicle Suppliers Association, will personally represent the family’s commitments on the UAF Board of Trustees, a strategic appointment that links major North American component supplier insights with grassroots educational funding.
In tandem with achieving this donor status, Paul and Angela McCarthy have formally funded a dedicated memorial scholarship program honoring their grandfathers, Dominic Molfese and Ralph McCabe. Both ancestors were lifelong automotive repair and manufacturing veterans, with Molfese notably contributing to the early development cycles of Chevrolet’s legendary small-block V8 platform.
This multi-generational commitment focuses directly on trade sustainability, a pressing concern for Canadian parts distributors and mechanical repair networks tracking workforce development initiatives. The newly minted scholarship architecture provides direct financial aid to students pursuing operational and mechanical degrees within automotive aftermarket disciplines, effectively injecting private capital to secure future service bay operational capacities.
“Technicians are the backbone of the aftermarket, and by investing in the next generation of skilled professionals, we are helping strengthen our industry,” stated McCarthy, adding that giving back to the automotive trade honors a tradition that has provided immense opportunities for his own family.
Roger McCollum, Chairman of the UAF, lauded the family’s extraordinary commitment, noting that their leadership and dedication exemplify the proactive corporate backing required to support students pursuing successful careers in the modern aftermarket.
