ASE Acquires WrenchWay to Consolidate Workforce Software

The acquisition standardizes and expands upon ASE Connects, a joint workforce optimization initiative deployed by both organizations earlier this year.
Targeting structural gaps within the automotive, heavy-duty diesel, and collision repair labor pools, the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) has finalized the acquisition of software developer WrenchWay. Under the terms of the corporate transaction, WrenchWay’s complete staff and executive co-founders will transition directly into the core ASE operational framework.
The acquisition standardizes and expands upon ASE Connects, a joint workforce optimization initiative deployed by both organizations earlier this year. The centralized platform functions as a operational link connecting active secondary and post-secondary technical training facilities with regional shops and franchise dealerships. Crucially for fixed operations managers, the integration houses the Industry Data Exchange, an aggregated repository tracking regional compensation benchmarks, benefits scheduling, and shop labor rates.
“Modernizing ASE has always meant more than updating our tests. It means rethinking how we serve technicians, shops, educators, and the next generation entering the industry,” stated Dave Johnson, President and CEO of ASE. For Canadian service directors, multi-shop operators (MSOs), and independent garage owners navigating severe technician acquisition hurdles, this corporate consolidation bundles standard technician credentialing with data-driven recruitment infrastructure.
WrenchWay co-founders Jay Goninen and Mark Wilson will remain active within the integrated matrix to guide the deployment of the ASE Connects ecosystem, with specific timeline rollouts for existing users scheduled to drop over the coming weeks.
