The machinery deployment effectively doubles Gray's milling capacity on this specific equipment platform.
Gray Tools, Canada’s sole domestic broad-line hand tool manufacturer, has integrated a second Takumi VC1200 Vertical Milling Machine with an automatic tool changer into its Brampton, Ontario, production facility.
The machinery deployment effectively doubles Gray’s milling capacity on this specific equipment platform.
The expansion aligns with a corporate initiative to consolidate manufacturing processes in-house. By lowering its operational reliance on localized, outsourced third-party machining, the company aims to compress supply chain lead times for its distributor network. The newly deployed milling center will primarily focus on the fabrication of large combination wrenches, non-striking wrenches, and striking face wrenches.
“At Gray Tools, we have an ongoing strategy to expand domestic production capacity, shorten lead times and improve responsiveness, and the new milling machine represents our latest step in that effort,” stated Paul Dean, VP of Operations at Gray Tools.
This internal workflow expansion allows the brand, which has manufactured in Canada since 1912, to secure tighter engineering tolerances, improve surface finishes, and control production scheduling for critical high-volume industrial items in its catalog.
