Available as a downloadable PDF, the digital checklist can be printed to document customer information, vehicle specifications, and service dates, while systematically guiding automotive professionals through a complete thermal analysis of undercar, underhood, and vehicle interior systems.
Snap-on has added a dedicated thermal imaging inspection checklist to its website, providing automotive technicians with a practical operational resource to streamline inspections, improve diagnostic efficiency, and boost bay productivity.
Available as a downloadable PDF, the digital checklist can be printed to document customer information, vehicle specifications, and service dates, while systematically guiding automotive professionals through a complete thermal analysis of undercar, underhood, and vehicle interior systems.
Thermal imaging technology functions by detecting precise heat signatures generated by mechanical friction, electrical resistance, and pressure variations, enabling diagnostic technicians to isolate hidden faults much faster and with greater corporate confidence.
Utilizing advanced diagnostic platforms like the Snap-on Diagnostic Thermal Imager+, service bays can rapidly evaluate the thermal footprint of critical moving components and systems, including passenger tires, brake calipers, wheel bearings, exhaust lines, electrical circuits, engine cylinders, and HVAC components.
“A thorough diagnostic inspection follows a systematic workflow across key vehicle areas, and the new thermal imaging checklist provides technicians with a comprehensive guide,” said Helen Cox, marketing and client services director for Snap-on Diagnostics.
The diagnostic tool captures detailed imagery featuring 4,800 distinct temperature measurement zones and is engineered to detect heat levels reaching up to 840 degrees Fahrenheit. Combined with an extensive automotive application database and guided tests, this specialized framework helps independent repair facilities reduce diagnostic lead times, eliminate guesswork, and drive long-term shop throughput.
