Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company has introduced a mid-tier winter tire, the WinterCommand.

The tire will be available from March 2019, in 54 sizes. It comes with studding capability.

Designed to help its users deal with ice, snow and winter conditions, the WinterCommand features the popular three-peak mountain snowflake designation that is backed up by a proven winter tread compound, specialized winter tread patterns and full depth zig-zag sipes.

The expanded sizes offered by Goodyear will enable consumers to fit the tire on passenger cars, CUVs, SUVs and light trucks in a Q, S or T speed rating. The tire’s three-tread pattern variations are designed to be paired with specific vehicle types for providing optimal customized performance.

“This is the start of a concentrated focus on enhancing Goodyear’s winter portfolio,” says Mike Dwyer, Goodyear’s Chief Customer Officer, North America Consumer. “As we look to revitalize our winter line, we are confident that the WinterCommand gives us a strong winter offering that will drive growth in a segment with enormous potential.”

Goodyear asserts that the WinterCommand offers a consistent and confident grip at low temperatures, providing enhanced snow and ice grip throughout the life of the tire. Multiple biting edges in the tire’s tread pattern provide starting and stopping power on snow covered roads and enhance its traction in winter driving conditions.
