The Automotive Aftermarket Retailers of Ontario (AARO) held a special meeting on Tuesday, October 8th, at The Waterside Inn in Mississauga.

The agenda revolved around ‘Repair it Right’ and was hosted by the AARO 2020 Taskforce!

Guest speaker, Bob Greenwood told attendees what was happening in the industry and why it wasn’t working as well as it should! He stated that U.S. repair shops are far ahead of those in Canada… because Canada is too far behind on training courses and in a crisis when it comes to commitment. Accountability must be had at the shop level!

Greenwood stated, “We need to create an aftermarket culture of commitment and accountability dealing far more effectively and aggressively with critical vehicle information necessary to move the aftermarket into the new profession of a true knowledge based business and industry!”

Knowledge (information access)… something each ASP needs and AARO is doing their best to help! And John Cochrane, Cochrane Automotive and Task Force advocate explained how.

“How many of you are aware that you can access repair information in a matter of minutes?” he asked. “It’s really quite simple now—got to AARO’s website at www.aaro.ca. On the left side you’ll see ‘REPAIR IT RIGHT’. Fill in the Service Information Request form (the second tab down under How & When to Fill Out a SIR) plus look at the video about the form.

“When that’s done, click send and the National ‘Repair It Right 2020’ Taskforce Technicians will review it and get you an answer in real-time! At that point if you’re not a member of the National Automotive Service Task Force (NASTF), you can join…it’s free. You can also apply to be a Vehicle Security Professional (VSP) on the site for key codes, etc. Most importantly—when you apply to NASTF, make sure you tick the ‘AARO’ in the drop down box.”

Remember, you need to work with repairers.. you need information quickly and this is how you can get it easily. If you have any trouble, you may contact AARO administrators, Diane Freeman [email protected] or Luanne Fedosoff [email protected] and they will get your forms through to NASTF.

Get this done and get it done now! You don’t need to waste time waiting for information… AARO can help you!
