Auto Value has announced the names of the 25 winners of its 2019 scholarship competition.

The winners, who have been selected from a pool of student applicants from all over North America, will receive $1000 each.

“We are proud of the achievements of these students, and we are proud to support them as they further their education,” said J.C. Washbish, Vice President of Marketing for the Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance. “These 25 students are members of the Alliance family, and we look forward to seeing what they accomplish in the future.”

Candidates were required to complete a rigorous application process that included essay prompts, short answer questions, letters of recommendation, and more, to be considered for the scholarship. Additionally, they had to be employees or family members of employees. A panel of judges from the University of the Aftermarket Foundation choose the winners.

The Alliance scholarship program was first established in 2001. Since then over $500,000 has been given out in scholarships to deserving students. With this program, the Alliance intends to encourage continuing education within the membership and also support the educational goals of the next generation.

“We are all aware of how competitive and expensive the college experience can be. The Alliance’s program is invaluable to all those members facing the frightful costs of secondary education,” said John Tully, Sales Manager for Norwood Motor Parts Company. “Our CSC network, distribution center, and store employees truly appreciate the value. We at Norwood Motor Parts are very proud to have received three college scholarships awards in 2019 from the Alliance.”

Canadian scholarship recipients are Mark Malig associated with Central Auto Parts Distributors, Alexandra Dumont associated with Piston Ring and Ashley Peterman who is associated with Auto Electric Service. Malig is a student at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and is training to be a Parts Technician. Peterman is a student currently enrolled in the Faculty of Education at the University of Regina. Dumont is pursuing a degree in Business Administration from Providence University College & Theological Seminary in Manitoba.
