Mixed bag for global auto sales figures in November.
According to the most recent Global Auto Report, published by Rebekah Young, Director, Fiscal & Provincial Economics for Scotiabank, the automotive industry saw another slow month in November.
Young reports that global auto sales fell 3.0% y/y (nsa) in November for the fifteenth consecutive month of decline, while in Canada, auto sales were flat y/y.
Regionally, Young reports that Ontario say a 3% y/y gain, and that all provinces east of Ontario posted positive sales months. West of Ontario, however, all provinces saw sales decline, with Alberta reporting the steepest drop of roughly 8% y/y.
Elsewhere, US auto sales increased by 2.1% y/y, while auto sales declined for the seventeenth consecutive month in China with a drop of 5.4% y/y, and by 12.7% y/y in Japan.
Europe saw modest boosts to sales across all major markets except the UK, Young adds.
