CARSTAR has announced that it is celebrating a major North American milestone, having successfully raised more than $4 million for fibrosis research, care and advocacy.

“Our franchise family works tremendously hard to host events that raise valuable funds and awareness in their respective communities for cystic fibrosis,” said Dean Fisher, president, CARSTAR. “It is directly because of them and the additional support of our vendor, insurance and corporate partners that we are able to enjoy this milestone moment together.”

CARSTAR took up the cause 20 years ago after a franchise partner’s granddaughter was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. The network’s commitment to cystic fibrosis and the funds raised for the same have increased ever since. CARSTAR credits this major milestone to all the large and small initiatives that have helped raise funds for its cystic fibrosis partners. From car washes and golf tournaments to holding garage sales, participating in charity walks or simply donating some money, the network’s efforts have been supported by various initiatives over the years.

“CARSTAR and its partners are a shining example of the impact that can be made through corporate philanthropy,” said Kelly Grover, President and CEO, Cystic Fibrosis Canada. “The funds raised by CARSTAR will help people living with cystic fibrosis live longer, healthier lives. Thank you for your generosity.”

A fatal genetic disease, cystic fibrosis has no cure. It especially affects the lungs and the digestive system. Patients suffering from this have a defective gene that causes a thick mucus buildup in organs such as the lungs, pancreas, etc. Eventually, this leads to lung damage and respiratory failure.

Fisher added, “It is moments like these where I am reminded just how wonderful our CARSTAR family is and it makes me even more grateful to be a part of it. We are committed to supporting this cause and hope to one day soon be celebrating the milestone of a cure being found for cystic fibrosis.”
