Nova Scotia Skills Canada Collision Repair Competition

Autosphere » Collision » Nova Scotia Skills Canada Collision Repair Competition

As we all know, the Skills Canada Collision Repair Program promotes careers in the Collision Repair Industry and could be invaluable to employers looking for apprentices for their businesses… apprentices who will go on to become valuable employees.

The Program was created to address this skills shortage by raising awareness of career opportunities at Skills Canada Competitions across the country, by showcasing the exciting opportunities available to young people.

In Nova Scotia, the Car Paint Competition was held on the first part of April at the new state-of-the-art building that houses Autobody Repair and Paint at the New Brunswick Community College under the leadership of Don MacKay, NBCC Autobody Coordinator.

And the winners were—Autobody Repair: Gold: Jared Roach, Apprentice; Silver: Mtchell Leyte, Apprentice; Bronze: Evan Manuel, NSCC Akerley

Car Painting: Gold: Morgan Murray, Apprentice; Silver: Corey Laird, Apprentice; Bronze: Taylor McInnis, Apprentice.

Automobile Technology: Gold: Dave Callaghan, Apprentice; Silver: Daniel Belliveau, Apprentice; Bronze: Jonathan Godin-Hebert, NSCC Akerley.

In addition, about 2,000 students attended as spectators. Skills Canada had set up a Try-a-Trade virtual paint system onsite for high school students to try out, while at the event.
