PPG has announced its collision refinish training schedule for the first quarter of 2018.

The classes cover a wide variety of subjects and dare designed to ensure that PPG paint technicians are up-to-date with refinish certification and knowledge of PPG products as well as processes and technological advancements.

PPG collision refinish training classes are held at PPG Business Development Centers at numerous field locations across the U.S. and Canada and are led by expert PPG trainers.

Each course takes 1-2 days and provides extensive classroom instruction along with hands-on training in the spray booth. Technicians are given multiple opportunities for informal discussions and Q&A sessions with instructors.

Collision refinish courses cover PPG premium brands including ENVIROBASE High Performance, AQUABASE Plus, DELTRON and GLOBAL REFINISH SYSTEM lines with certification and re-certification offered for each brand.

Programs encompass a comprehensive range of topics including product selection, equipment, and colour tools, to surface preparation as well as paint application best practices. Colour tinting classes are also offered for each of PPG’s refinish brands. Additionally, classes are offered in French and Spanish at select locations.

PPG refinish technicians are required to be certified and then recertified every two years in order to stay current with industry developments.

Those technicians that are certified may have the collision centres they work at offer PPG’s Lifetime Limited Paint Performance Guarantee. In order to remain in the paint guarantee program, those technicians need to maintain their PPG certification.
