Mitchell has announced that in collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies, it has developed a proof-of-concept XR (Extended Reality) smart glasses solution for the benefit of collision repair facilities.

The company has stated in a release that the proof of concept will be showcased at the 2019 Mitchell mPower Conference on October 1 this year. Alex Sun, CEO, Mitchell and Hugo Swart from Qualcomm will also discuss the solution at the event.

Commercial smart glasses are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XT Platform have been utilized in Mitchell’s smart glasses solution. As stated by Mitchell, collision repairers will be able to access and use all necessary resources to perform safe and accurate repairs without any interruptions in their workflow.

Repair technicians will be able to access the latest up-to-date, vehicle-specific repair procedures within their vision with just voice activation with these smart glasses that use extended reality technology. Additionally, if the need arises, repair technicians will be able to contact and collaborate with experts in real-time while working on the vehicle. It is also equipped to streamline key functions like check-in and check-out processes.
