PPG has announced that it recently joined the I-CAR Sustaining Partner program.

A not-for-profit organization, the Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair (I-CAR) focuses primarily on offering the information, knowledge and skills training required by technicians to deliver complete, safe and quality automotive repairs. I-CAR recently started the Sustaining Partner program as a long-term initiative to involve major suppliers of the collision repair industry with the intention to support the organization in its technician training opportunities. Through this program, I-CAR wishes to obtain additional funding to help reduce the cost of providing I-CAR quality training to collision repairers on one hand and to increase financial support to vocational institutions on the other.

According to PPG, its involvement in the Sustaining Partner program is aligned with its commitment to supporting I-CAR’s efforts.

“We greatly appreciate PPG’s support of both I-CAR and our industry by becoming an I-CAR Sustaining Partner,” says Nick Notte, I-CAR Senior Vice President, Sales. “This important initiative is designed to help address the collision repair industry’s shortage of technicians and expand training opportunities throughout the Inter-Industry. It also makes I-CAR training more accessible and affordable for career and technical school students, which helps advance I-CAR’s mission.”

As a member of the Sustaining Partner program, PPG will now have access to information, course content and marketing opportunities. In a statement released by the company, PPG states that the partnership will aid in helping collision repair professionals and students gain better access to quality education and knowledge sources. Consequently, they will have the option to look for employment opportunities and advancements.

“This is a classic win-win situation for I-CAR, PPG, the entire collision repair industry and our customers,” says Tom Wolf, PPG Director of Business Development, Canada and U.S. “PPG already has the most comprehensive training program in the industry, so we understand the importance of proper training at every point of a technician’s career. Now, with our support, I-CAR’s training will be more available and financially attractive to today’s—and tomorrow’s—technicians. By joining the Sustaining Partner program, we are taking the appropriate steps to ensure the future of quality collision repair.”
