CRC Industries has upgraded its Brakleen Brake Parts Cleaner.

New and cleaner packaging is designed to help with the correct selection of formula.

CRC constantly monitors regulatory trends and potential impact with the objective of simplifying decision making for its customers and helping them with compliance.

As a result, the company has upgraded packaging of both its chlorinated and non-chlorinated cleaner formulas to help with their identification.

Brake cleaning products may be restricted from including chlorinated solvents in their formulas due to statutory regulations. To help tackle the problem, CRC supplies unique Brakleen formulations that allow its customers to meet the needs of the marketplace as well as any regulations for chlorinated solvents and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

With the new packaging, users can easily identify the specific Brakleen formula. The original chlorinated formula is available in red label packaging, while all non-chlorinated formulas have been packaged with green labels.

“We know our customers immediately recognize the red can of CRC Brakleen,” says Louis Fresta, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for CRC. “Red has identified our original brake cleaner since 1971, and it’s still our strongest formula. Red is iconic for Brakleen, the CRC brand, and our core automotive maintenance products, and that won’t change. But state regulations have changed and will continue to change. CRC is committed to helping our customers stay compliant while maximizing product performance. So, we’ve simplified our packaging to make product selection as easy as possible: Brakleen in red packaging is chlorinated, while Brakleen in green packaging is non-chlorinated.”

Several facilities restrict the use of chlorinated solvents. To replace the cleaning power lost in non-chlorinated formulas, VOCs have been added to them.

Non-chlorinated brake cleaners contain VOCs to replace some of the cleaning power lost when switching to non-chlorinated formulas. CRC offers the non-chlorinated cleaners in eight different formulas, including regular and PRO SERIES versions of Non-Chlorinated – High VOC, Non-Chlorinated—Low VOC, Non-Chlorinated—Less than 10% VOC, and Non-Chlorinated – Ultra Low VOC formulas.

With the wide range of available choices, customers and professionals are able to access the strongest possible brake parts cleaner suited to their requirements. Retailers and distributors who stock both the chlorinated and non-chlorinated formulas are at ease since they are able to provide the right brake cleaner to their customers.

CRC’s Brakleen Pro Series line—introduced in 2018—is available in professional-size cans that contain more ounces and come with enhanced formulas with better cleaning power. The Pro Series cans has a Powerjet nozzle that blasts off grime and grease from brake parts surfaces. CRC offers its Brakleen formulas in several packaging options, such as including aerosol spray cans, jugs, pails and drums, among others.

Besides brake parts cleaners, CRC also offers a complete line of brake maintenance products and other highly-specialized formulas for multiple service categories. They include engine, electrical system, fuel system, cooling system, transmission, and power steering.
