Uni-Select, through its Bumper to Bumper program in Fort McMurray, and the Automotive Industries Association of Canada (AIA) High Fives for Kids Foundation have teamed up to support the Justin Slade Youth Foundation, a registered non-profit organization based in Fort McMurray, Alta.

This foundation provides youth ages 12-17 with organized programs, community engagement and a casual drop in center that promotes valuable opportunities for social interaction.

Due to the wildfires that struck the Fort McMurray community in May 2016, the Justin Slade Youth Foundation was forced to cancel its Annual Golf Tournament and Silent Auction that takes place at MacDonald Island Golf Course every June, in Fort McMurray. This fundraiser is a major component of their revenue, helping the foundation to continue to offer their programming free of charge to any and all youth who walk through their doors.

To make sure that the Justin Slade Youth Foundation can pursue its activities and continue to help and support kids within the Fort McMurray area, Uni-Select, Bumper to Bumper and the High Fives for Kids Foundation presented a cheque to the JSYF for over $30,000.

“The youth of today will shape the country of tomorrow, therefore it is our duty to offer our support by providing them with the resources we have at our disposal. Contributing to the communities where our team members live, work and serve customers is central to the way we do business. When our local Bumper to Bumper member asked us to contribute financially to this great foundation, we immediately said yes. That, to me, was a no-brainer,” said Gary O’Connor, President and Chief Operating Officer, Uni-Select Canada.

“When Uni-Select Inc. requested additional financial support from the High Fives for Kids Foundation for the Justin Slade Youth Foundation in Fort McMurray, there was no hesitation from the Foundation to help these kids in need. Knowing the devastation of the region after the wildfires as well as the set back the Justin Slade Youth Foundation realized in their annual fundraising initiatives, the High Fives for Kids Foundation was pleased to assist in keeping the “Kids” in Fort McMurray active and engaged in their community,” ssaid Ken Coulter, Honourary Chairman of the High Fives for Kids Foundation.

Congratulations to Uni-Select, Bumper to Bumper and AIA Canada members in the Prairies for doing a “Good Thing” for the kids in the Fort McMurray area. As stated on the Justin Slade Youth Foundation website. There is value in everyone’s contribution,” added Coulter.
