Networking and showcasing event proved hugely popular once again.
For the second year in a row, the NAFA Ontario Local Networking Group (LNG) hosted its Spring Social and Baseball Event.
Taking place on April 16, this year’s Spring Social was a sold-out event, with 105 registered attendees, including NAFA Ontario local networking group members and fleet industry professionals. Many were returning guests and members from last year and the event garnered very positive feedback.
Attendees gathered to share ideas and highlight their organizations. In attendance was NAFA CEO Bill Schankel, who made the trip up to the event from the U.S. Following the gathering at the Pint Public House on Front Street West in Downtown Toronto, which included a spread of food and complimentary beverages, the group made its way over to the nearby Rogers Centre.
That evening saw another great opportunity to watch the Toronto Blue Jays play, this time against arch-rivals the New York Yankees in Major League Baseball’s American League East division. It proved to be spectacular game, certainly for the home crowd.
While the Yankees got off to a good start, leading 1-0, by the bottom of the fourth inning, the tables were turning with Toronto upping their tally to 3 points, and the Blue Jay’s Vladimir Guerrero Jr. scoring a big two-run single. Toronto pitcher Yusei Kikuchi really started pilling on the pressure and Davis Schneider performed a spectacular catch during the top of the 6th inning. While the Yankees came back strong, by the bottom of the 9th inning Toronto was leading 5-4 against the Yankees. The home team ended up with five runs, eight hits and zero errors, versus four runs, six hits and one error for the Yankees.
Kikuchi was unquestionably the star player during the game, and though the Yankees gave a good performance, this was a deserved win for the hometown Blue Jays and certainly a great way for fans and the NAFA Ontario LNG to celebrate a fabulous evening.
