New survey sheds light on fleet’s attitude towards EVs.

A survey published by U.K.-based Venson Automotive Solutions, offers a glimpse into the mindset of global fleet professionals and why many are hesitant to add electric vehicles (EVs) to their fleets.

In addition to perceptions about a lack of EV charging infrastructure, the Venson survey reported that 57% of those surveyed reported that limited battery range is still a barrier when considering an EV.

But with a growing network of charging stations, and newer vehicles that boast an improved range, Alison Bell, Marketing Director at Venson Automotive Solutions believes that the two main reasons for fleets not investing in EVs should no longer be a concern.

“With charging and battery range concerns abated, EV fleets should now be far more appealing to businesses,” Bell said.

That said, Bell does agree that other issues are still a concern. “While our survey findings confirm a greater willingness by company car drivers to adapt to an EV world, there are still some ownership concerns. 41% of people we surveyed expressed concern over the practicalities of being able to charge their vehicle at home. And 30% said they had concerns over service, maintenance and repair costs.”
