Phillip E. Russo, CAE, decides to step down after more than 14 years as CEO of NAFA Fleet Management Association (NAFA).
Phillip E. Russo has been CEO and Executive Director of NAFA since 2005. His employment contract was set to expire at the end of the year; however, Russo planned an exit strategy with the NAFA Board of Directors to leave by August 2, 2019.
“I have loved my time with NAFA,” Russo said. “I’ve made many great friends and have so many great memories. I am eagerly and excitedly pursuing new opportunities,” he said.
As CEO, Russo helped NAFA accomplish:
- Rebranding the logo design, name, and bylaws;
- Growing the annual conference sponsorship;
- Increasing reserve funds; and
- Increasing member engagement through fleet sustainability credential, a micro-certificate exam, extensive government affairs activities, and an online community initiative.
“Phil is well-respected and appreciated by the fleet management community,” said NAFA President Patti Earley, CAFM. “He has left an indelible mark on the association; we thank him for his service and wish him well in his new ventures.”
NAFA is now searching for its next CEO. In the meantime, Bill Schankel, CAE, NAFA’s Chief of Staff & Operations is serving as the association’s interim CEO.
