Ram 1500 impresses panel of automotive experts with its innovative technology, luxurious interior and upgraded capabilities.

After votes from 60 automotive journalists from the U.S. and Canada were tabulated, the Ram 1500 was named 2019 North American Truck of the Year. The announcement was made today at the North American International Auto Show  in Detroit.

“In what is arguably the most competitive segment in the automotive industry, for the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 to be named North American Truck of the Year is tremendous recognition of the FCA employees who design, engineer and build a pickup that truly stands out,” said Reid Bigland, Head of Ram Brand.

The new truck’s overall weight has been reduced by 225 pounds while still maintaining a towing capability of 12, 750 pounds and 2, 300 pounds of payload. It boasts a fuel-efficient eTorque mild-hybrid technology, with V-6 and V-8 configurations, and a 12-inch Uconnect touchscreen with split-screen capability and a 360-degree camera view. The truck also has active safety and security systems, like blind-spot monitoring and automatic emergency braking.

“The Ram 1500 is an important product for FCA and winning this award is one of the highest honours,” said Bigland.
