Study finds that 40% of accidents are work related.

A new report, published by Motus, finds a disturbing parallel between rising car accident rates and employees using their mobile phones for work. According to Motus, distracted driving costs employers an average of $4,400 USD per fleet worker (those who use a personally-owned vehicle for business purposes) each year.

Smartphones are by far the biggest distraction today, with Motus noting that “between 2014 and 2016, there were substantial spikes in both smartphone ownership and car accidents that involved property damage, injuries or fatalities.”

One of the most interesting findings is that mobile workers drive a total of almost 2,000 km a year while distracted.
