Volkswagen of America is proud to announce that its 2018 Atlas SUV has received the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) Top Safety Pick.

To qualify for this award, a vehicle must have good ratings in five crashworthiness tests. The Atlas even got a superior rating for its autonomous emergency braking system.
“Volkswagen’s commitment to safety and driver assistance technologies is unwavering. We take great responsibility to ensure our driver assistance technologies get smarter,” said Volkswagen of America’s Senior Vice-President, Product Marketing and Strategy, Hendrik Muth. “The Atlas is an example of our ongoing commitment to offering these features and we are proud to have received this recognition.”

The car manufacturer mentioned that the Atlas is the only vehicle in its class to offer the Automatic Post-Collision Braking System, which helps to avoid additional collisions after an initial impact.
