New engines / transmissions boast more power and better fuel economy.

Ford has announced that the 2018 F-150 will arrive later this year with a more capable powertrain lineup and more V6 choices.

For 2018, a more efficient 3.3-litre V6 adds dual port and direct-injection technology to deliver more power and torque than the previous 3.5-litre V6, plus improved projected fuel economy.

An all-new second-generation 2.7-litre EcoBoost engine delivers a 25 lb.-ft. increase in torque. It will be paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission for 2018.

The 5.0-litre V8 is also enhanced for 2018 with advanced dual port and direct-injection technology for 10 more horsepower and 13 ft.-lb. of torque. For the first time, the V8 is paired with a Ford-built 10-speed automatic transmission.

Ford is also adding an all-new 3.0-litre Power Stroke V6 diesel to the lineup (next spring), coupled to a 10-speed automatic.
