The Enterpise Rent-A-Car Foundation has made a substantial donation in the fight against worldwide hunger. The company, which celebrated its 60th anniversary, has decided to underline this event by injecting 60 million dollars in the fight to eradicate this worldwide problem.
“Enterpise Rent-A-Car is part of the cultural fabric of thousands of cities and neighborhoods where it exercises its activities,ˮ declared Enterprise Vice President and Executive Director of the Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation, Carolyn Kindle Betz.
It is through their FILL YOUR TANK program, which supports food banks, that the 10 million dollar donation, spread over the next six years, will be distributed. An amount of 2.5 million dollars will be donated to Feeding America, the largest charitable organization fighting hunger in the U.S., 1.5 million will be donated to Food Banks Canada and 1 million will be given to the Global FoodBanking Network. In addition, the Foundation will donate 5 million dollars to various food banks where Enterprise is involved locally.
On a global scale, one in nine people don’t get enough to eat to be healthy enough to lead an active life, according to the World Food Bank. Food Bank Canada claims that 13% of the Canadian population suffer from food insecurity and 25% of 6th grade students who participated in a Public Health Safety study indicated that they sometimes go to bed hungry from lack of available food.
