The Road to the World Car Awards declared the Audi A7 as the 2019 World Luxury Car during the grand finale awards ceremony that opened the New York International Auto Show.

This year the Audi A7 won the award for 2019 World Luxury Car, making it the second consecutive time it has won this particular award. Last year, the Audi A8 was the winner for this category.

With ten wins in the 15-year history of the awards ceremony, Audi AG continues to hold the record for the most won World Car Awards. It has previously won, 2014 World Car of the Year (Audi A3) and 2005 World Car of the Year (Audi A6).

“It is a great honor for Audi to win the ‘World Luxury Car’ award twice in a row,” says Hans-Joachim Rothenpieler, Member of the Board of Management of AUDI AG Technical Development. “We are very proud of this award because it shows Audi’s ability to develop leading premium cars in various segments.”

The Audi AG was chosen from an initial entry list of five prestigious cars from all over the world and made the shortlist of three finalists in Geneva in March. Other finalists in this category included the Audi Q8 and the BMW 8 Series.

Eligible vehicles were selected, test-driven, and voted on by an international jury panel comprised of 86 prominent automotive journalists from 24 countries around the world and chosen based on their expertise and experience, credibility and influence. The international accounting firm KPMG tabulated the juror’s ballots.
