Fisker reveals early details on an elegant all-electric SUV design, priced below U.S. $40,000 and set to be launched in the second half of 2021.

Fisker, a designer and manufacturer of electric vehicles with advanced automotive technology and mobility solutions, is set to reinvent the SUV with the introduction of the all-electric luxury vehicle. The SUV will feature a futuristic exterior design reserved for supercars in the past, with the spacious interior completed with high-quality material and an open-air atmosphere.

“Our team set out on a mission to create an affordable EV that’s more exciting and emotion-stirring than what the market has been offering,” says Henrik Fisker, Chairman and CEO of Fisker.

The SUV will be available in four-wheel drive with two electric motors–one on the front and one in the rear–and boasts an extended range of approximately 482 km, using an enhanced +80 KWh lithium-ion battery pack. There will be an option to choose 22-inch wheels when purchasing the car.

“At the same time, we’re investing heavily into next-generation technologies, highlighted by our patented Fisker Solid-State Battery technology. Our team of scientists have been working tirelessly within our in-house labs, with remarkable results to date as we move toward vehicle testing with partners next year. We believe that super luxury vehicles must offer the absolute latest in emerging technologies.”

The affordable mass-market vehicle promises a high-tech user experience, using a large heads up display and a unique, intuitive user-interface while maintaining the traditional structural integrity of an SUV. A drivable prototype is set to be revealed by the end of 2019.

Fisker will sell directly to consumers without dealers and will begin accepting early deposits closer to the start of production. Currently, it is finalizing the selection of a facility in the U.S. to begin production.

“While other manufacturers have introduced beautiful, high-performance electric cars with high price tags, the real race is about who can deliver a truly high-volume, affordable, yet desirable EV–produced through a unique, profitable business model. The Fisker team is thrilled to be playing a leading role in that revolution.”

This new model is the first in an upcoming line-up of three affordable and luxurious vehicles set to be produced. Another electric sedan, called the Fisker Emotion will be introduced to the market soon.

“Our flagship, low-volume EMotion luxury electric sedan will be the first model to feature Fisker Solid-State batteries, targeted to deliver more than 500 miles (804 km) of range with a single, quick charge.”

More details of the SUV and its production timeline will be revealed at a later date on the company website.
