The myChevrolet app’s new Vehicle Locate feature alleviates stress and worry for Chevy owners and their loved ones.

The new feature allows Chevy owners to set up a designated boundary area, ranging from 75 metres to a 30 km radius and then send automated alerts to up to ten people when their connected vehicle enters or leaves that area, or arrives at or departs from an address. These ten people must opt-in to receive the alerts.

Chevrolet even identified specific scenarios where Vehicle Locate may come in handy, like:

  • The connected commuter, who usually sends a text to family and friends once they have left work or are close to home. Vehicle Locate will eliminate the need for texting updates.
  • The concerned parent, who want to watch out for their teenage kids. Vehicle Alerts sends alerts to the whereabouts of their children.
  • The modern dater, who go on blind and online dates. Vehicle Locate reduces family and friend’s concern with regular updates on whereabouts.
  • The helpful truck owner, who lend their vehicles to friends to transport large items. Vehicle Locate keeps tabs on the truck.

“At Chevrolet, we aim to make our drivers’ lives easier through smart and purposeful technologies,” said Alejandra Gonzalez, Product Manager, Remote Services, Chevrolet. “Vehicle Locate provides both drivers and their loved ones with peace of mind in a variety of different drive-related scenarios.”

The feature is part of the app’s Remote Access Plan that provides remote key fob services and is available to owners of eligible 2012 model year or newer Chevrolet vehicles in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
