Lindertech Training, hosted by Cochrane Automotive, has announced a four-day automotive training event for fall 2019.
As per the agenda, the training will take place from October 2 to 5, from 8 am to 4:30 pm each day. The first three days of training will take place at Cochrane Automotive, 73 Chancey Ave. in Toronto Ontario. The final day of training will be held at Hilton Garden Inn, 1870 Matheson Blvd. in Mississauga, Ont.
Rick White from 180BIZ will head the session on October 2. Lindertech has teamed up with 180BIZ to put together the training on day 1 for shop owners and Service Advisors. The training is aimed at helping them understand how service advisors can be the most effective at their jobs.
Lindertech proposes that advisors will be able to learn the following by the end of the day:
- The importance of the first impression and how to precisely manage it.
- How to really connect with the customer to build a relationship and be there to help.
- How to take a price conversation and turn it into a value conversation.
- The phone skills necessary to positively engage the customer and get the appointment.
- How to deal with price shoppers and sell diagnostic testing profitably.
- How to take advantage of the opportunities in delivering the vehicle and setting the next visit.
The second day is divided into two sessions. The morning session will be headed by John Shewbridge, Trainer for Hunter Engineering. Shewbridge will be covering the following:
- Changes in Mechanical repair
- How the many safety systems affect repair
- ADAS and its ramifications to repairs
- Alignment in the collision industry
- Liability and repair as per manufacturers’ requirements
- What technology is available to aftermarket and collision shops to address these new technologies
Niel Speetjens, Technical Training Manager at ZF Group will discuss about modern chassis technologies at the afternoon session of day two. According to Lindertech, attendees will be able to do the following at the end of the session:
- Describe all geometric chassis angles
- Describe Kamm’s circle
- Differentiate between popular chassis systems
- Describe multi-link suspension system
- Differentiate between electro-mechanical steering rack types
- Explain function of steering torque sensor
- Explain functions of the electro-mechanical-steering rack and its sensors
- Discuss the commonality of active return and wheel caster
- State the importance of straight line stability of steering systems
The training agenda on October 4 includes an eight-hour class on “BMW Valvetrain Systems & Driveability Diagnostics”. Instructor Scot Manna will be heading the sessions for the day. According to Lindertech, the aim of this class is to enable technicians to deal with problems on these vehicles with more confidence.
The final day of training is again divided into two different sessions, both headed by instructor John Thornton. The chosen topic for the morning session is “Push Button Ignition”. Lindertech states that the focus of this class is to aid technicians in formulating a diagnostic routine that will help handle the complaint of “I press the button and nothing happens”.
The subject for the afternoon session is “Gasoline Direct Injection Update: Operation & Diagnostics”. The primary focus of this class will be on the high-pressure fuel system. The instructor will cover scan data interpretation.
