Mazda’s first mass-production electric vehicle, the MX-30, was introduced at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show.

Mazda took the wraps off the MX-30, the brand’s first EV, which features Mazda’s new electric-drive technology: e–Skyactiv.

“In any era, Mazda wants people to experience exuberant moments in life through cars,” said Akira Marumoto, Mazda’s Representative Director, President and CEO at the show. “We will continue striving to deliver creative products and technologies so our customers will love and hold onto their Mazda for a long time.”

Mazda employed a variety of environmentally friendly materials in the construction of the MX-30. The door trim, for instance, uses fibers made from recycled plastic bottles, and the cork used in a number of interior features, was harvested from the bark of trees.

Details are limited, but Mazda has more information on a website dedicated to their first EV: Mazda MX-30
