Continental has announced that it has renamed its long haul commercial tire for better clarity.
The newly renamed heavy truck tire—Conti HSL 3, has been engineered by the company for steer and all-position use, in long haul and super-regional applications. Continental has renamed the tire such that the new name indicates the vehicle classification, axle configuration, and application for which the tire was created. According to the company, this nomenclature system is both descriptive and easy to use. It is devised to help tire dealers and fleets to identify the tire’s application, as well as its usage quickly.
The Conti HSL 3 differs from the company’s most fuel-efficient long haul steer tire Conti EcoPlus HS3 due to its flexibility for regional use, even though the former meets Smartway requirements. Besides low rolling resistance and long removal mileage, the tire is designed for a smooth, even tread wear. The tire also features the Fuel Saving Edge technology that is engineered to enhance application flexibility. According to Continental, this makes the Conti HSL 3 suitable for super-regional applications, including hub-and-spoke freight distribution.
Continental is offering the tire in the sizes 11R22.5 Load Ranges G and H, and 295/75R22.5 Load Ranges G and H. From July 2019 onwards, the tire is available under its new name Conti HSL 3, which has been changed from its former name Conti Hybrid HS3. All sizes of the tire are expected to be available by August.
