Hankook Tire stated that General Motors (GM) has honoured the company with the 2018 Supplier of the Year award.
The tire manufacturer is the recipient of the award for the third consecutive year from GM. GM presented the award at a ceremony that was held on May 15 this year in Detroit, Michigan. The automaker recognized 133 of its best suppliers for consistently exceeding its expectations, creating outstanding value or for introducing innovation to the company.
A global team from GM consisting of its purchasing, engineering, quality, manufacturing and logistics executives selected the recipients for the Supplier of the Year awards. The team chose the winners on the basis of performance criteria in Product Purchasing, Global Purchasing and Manufacturing Services, Customer Care and Aftersales and Logistics.
“Hankook is honoured to receive a GM Supplier of the Year award again this year,” said Hyunjun Cho, Head of Hankook Tire OE Division. “We value our partnership with GM and believe this award three years in a row is a testament to our strong partnership and continued growth together.”
“We hold our suppliers to a high bar,” said Steve Kiefer, GM Senior Vice President of Global Purchasing and Supply Chain. “They went above and beyond to deliver the innovations and quality that will help us earn customers for life.”
In a release by the company, Hankook states that receiving the GM Supplier of the Year for thrice shows its commitment to strengthening and fostering its partnerships with trusted brands. Additionally, it also confirms the company’s position as a key global tire manufacturer.
