Toyo Tire has added a new ‘Sustainable Natural Rubber Procurement Policy’ to its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) guidelines.

With this new policy in place, the company aims to strive for the sustainable procurement of natural rubber in addition to raw materials used in rubber products, including tires and automotive anti-vibration rubber. Hoping to set a positive example, Toyo Tire wishes to promote responsible procurement that supports the development of a sustainable society by addressing social issues such as human rights, labour and the environment over the entire supply chain.

The demand for natural rubber as a raw material is expected to increase as per a global economic growth forecast, Toyo Tire explains in a statement. The company therefore considers the move towards sustainable natural rubber procurement an important management issue.

Toyo Tire has participated in Sustainable Natural Rubber Initiatives since 2016 and is constantly working towards achieving a sustainable natural rubber economy. The company announced its participation in the Global Platform for Sustainable Natural Rubber in 2018.

Toyo Tire wishes to continue its efforts in building a sustainable natural rubber supply chain with the support of its stakeholders.

Toyo Tire has been promoting CSR procurement in cooperation with its business partners since establishing its CSR Procurement Guidelines in 2014. The company constantly updates the guidelines as per the evolving demands of the society and changes in the business environment.
