Bridgestone has released the latest version of their Blizzak winter tire line, the WS90.
The new WS90, designed for sedans and minivans, contains the latest versions of Bridgestone’s winter tire technology to provide drivers with better control in adverse winter conditions.
The WS90’s new tread compound, which features the company’s patented Multi-Cell technology, is designed to provide better stopping distances on ice when compared to the WS80.
The hydrophilic or water-loving properties of the Multi-Cell technology enable the tire to attract water and draw it away from the surface of ice to improve grip.
Bridgestone has conducted head-to-head comparisons, demonstrating that the WS90 stops at least 14 percent shorter on ice than winter tires offered by leading competitors.
“Every second counts, particularly when you’re trying to stop on winter roads where visibility may be poor and conditions can change quickly,” says Robert Saul, Director of Consumer Tire Product Strategy, U.S. and Canada, Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations. “Using our advanced technologies, we designed the Blizzak WS90 tire to be the leader in control on ice and deliver maximum grip in winter’s harshest conditions.”
The new tire’s special tread pattern is intended to provide longer lasting performance, giving drivers an extra season of winter use. Additionally, the tire features the company’s new EdgePerformance Technology package. Interlocking sipes present in the tire’s tread design translate into more edges for better snow and wet performance.
Available in 51 sizes, the WS90 currently covers 86 percent of passenger sedans and minivans on the road today. Authorized Bridgestone retailers will start receiving shipments of the new tire in May 2019.
