Hankook Tire held its annual Design Insight Forum at Hankook’s Technodome in Daejeon, South Korea, on September 20th, 2018, to discuss the future of the mobility and the tire industry.
“Hankook Tire is glad to have paved a path for the bright young minds to propose a whole new experience for future driving,” said Hyun Bum Cho, President & CEO of Hankook Tire. “We expect these innovative ideas and the intense discussion that went on at the Design Insight Forum will further Hankook Tire’s commitment to developing technologies for future mobility.”
At this year’s forum, the theme focused on ‘Extending Future Life Beyond Mobility.’
Hankook holds this forum every two years in collaboration with renowned design universities to propose a vision for the future of driving and product solutions through tires. This year, 19 industrial design students from UK’s Royal College of Art (RCA) worked with Hankook Tire to develop a tire system that will generate value and is fit for driving in the year 2035.
With submissions rolling in since January 2018, two design pieces have been selected, the Aeroflow and the Hexonic. The Aeroflow is a futuristic, one-person race car tire with maximized downforce. Whereas the Hexonic is a tire engineered with smart sensors to provide the optimal driving solution for autonomous cars, designed for car sharing services. In addition, the ‘HLS-23’, which will be responsible for the future logistics system, was also introduced.
